December Gun of the Month Giveaway: Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport
Bookmark and Share

Smith & Wesson has taken all of the best features of an AR15 and encapsulated them into their Military & Police (M&P) line with the introduction of the M&P15 Sport.

This incarnation of the modern sporting rifle features a 16-inch barrel, six position adjustable stock, fully adjustable rear sights and elevation adjustable front sights.

By leaving off two of the least used features of an AR15, the dust cover and the forward assist, Smith & Wesson was able to minimize cost and weight without sacrificing practicality.

The forged aluminum flat top upper and the lower receiver are finished with a durable hard coat black anodizing that will withstand a lot of abuse and protect the gun from scratches and corrosion.

Chambered in 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington, the M&P 15 Sport features a 1 in 8 inch 5R twist. A chromed gas key and bolt carrier ensure smooth operation, even in poor conditions.

The rear sights are removable from the integrated Picatinny rail for attachment of optics. Classic AR15 features such as a bayonet stud, pistol grip, and adjustable stock, keep that traditional “black rifle” look of the modern sporting rifle.

The gun shoots great and feeds a wide variety of premium and budget ammunition. Brass or steel cases and a variety of loads didn’t phase this rifle, even when it was pretty dirty. Out of the box, open sight accuracy was excellent out to several hundred yards, even with iron sights.

This rifle will be a great addition to any collection and is useful for competition, military or police duty use, home defense, varmint hunting, or general plinking and is extremely fun to shoot. We will draw for this rifle on December 30 at Noon. Registered users of the Sportsman’s Warehouse forum will be eligible to win. Forum users receive an additional entry for every 25 posts. Good luck.
