Don't dis SPAM it is amazing.  I am thinking of having some for lunch (as my mouth waters)  When I do ski-mountaineering trips or winter camping, I will eat a whole can for a meal.  Usually I just use the singles in the pouch when I am backpacking or doing day trips.  My dad and grampa would do wilderness raft trips and have spam as a component in every meal every day of the trip.  when I was a kid my dad and I would take a can a SPAM and a loaf of Wheatberry bread and go to the woods for days.

The cajuns make a spaghetti with the mollusks from conch shells in it. It's called snail spaghetti. It's good too.Surprised   And, no I don't know how to make it.Cry

I love those single Spam slice in a pouch. I keep a few dozen in the emergency prep pods because they keep forever, taste pretty good, I don't have to open a whole can of spam, they are high in salt and protein, and pretty filling. I make a great spaghetti spam and cheese with velveeta spaghetti and spam too. Now I am hungry and it isn't close to lunch time.

I've never tried the Spam in a pouch, I'll have to give it a try. I like the canned Spam, but don't want a whole can at one time.

I like SPAM, and SPAM in a pouch is awesome too.  I always have some with me and it is great for backpacking.  I might try the Bridgford stuff, but I am not a fan of MREs so if it is anything like an MRE I will stick with SPAM, salmon, or tuna in a pouch and freeze-dried or dehydrated foods.

Hmmm… I don't think you'd want to use this with a "Bridgford Ready to Eat Sandwich"…!

That crazy fool might. If he does the moderators probably wouldn't have to delete so many of his posts.

Look for local seminars or classes that will help get you started. Contact your local CERT and see when they will have a class. I do seminars at local Sportsman's Warehouse stores from time to time and others may do the same in your area. Get Cody Lundin's book When All Hell Breaks Loose. It is about the best no nonsense guide to preparing for an emergency. Start small and build a little at a time as your budget allows. Make a list of supplies and gear, and slowly acquire what you need. Once you get it, use it and become familiar with it so you know how it works and what you will need to go with it. It's not hard to get prepared, but it takes some commitment.

I would LOVE to have food and water storage for "emergencies" (and yes Zombies are an emergency Wink). I want it not for me but for my kids, I would love to know that they will be feed in an emergency. I am going to start working on an emergency supply with food and first aid.

Bridgeford has been doing this a long time. They do alot of the ready to eat stuff you'll find at golf courses and convenience stores. As Mark pointed out the side affects "speak" for themselves. But they probably make the best and most consistent tasting shelf stable "meat" products out there.

I will get a couple of these the next time I'm at Sportsman's.

I pretty much live on apples, carrots and peanut butter sandwiches.  It would be nice to have a better variety while I'm out in the woods!
