No fire rings, picnic tables, water, or out houses.

I think for me it would be not going to a campground but finding a secluded place to pitch a tent, cook over an open fire and cook with dutch ovens. I <3 dutch oven wild black berry cobbler.

For me, when you are camping in a camp ground with many other people, that is roughing it.  I thin that camping is when you have to backpack into your site, and there are no other campers around for miles. Thats the best way to get away.

I wish I could get  away like that..

Why on earth would you tell your wife about a new gun?  Put it with all the rest of them and move on.  She doesn't know how many guns you have, and if she figures it out, just say "I told you about it, you must have forgot".Smile

We have noticed that when it gets below 10 degrees, you need to put your boots in the sleeping bag to keep them from freezing solid.  Those can be pretty long nights.

Does not getting a good satellite reception on the Direct TV for Sundays game count as roughing it? Not that I use satellite TV when I camp but I've heard stories from people that have and that was their idea of roughing it!

Roughing it means solo in the wilderness. When all you have is what you carry. And the nearest person is hours away. That's roughing it. And it sure is fun.

I'm afraid I don't "rough it" as much as some, for me it's sleeping in a tent or the back of my truck. If my wife's along it's a tent, if I'm by myself I bring a small tent to stow my gear and I sleep in the bed of my truck(I have a camper shell on it ).
