I have only tried CCI mini mags and the Remington brick 22LR's. Good question that you raise. Maybe my assumption that CCI rules was a bit premature. I think I was making my observations based on credible recommendations. But i believe that there is merit in buying quailty ammo in smaller quanities when it comes to rimfire ammo. Once again, I'm an experiment in one. I would be happy to try another brand other than CCI if someone has an recommendationCool

would be nice…I'm still tossing aroudn the idea of getting one.  They sold out fast!

All-

Well have had my SR22 pistol  for about 1 month and have a (round) no pun intended, have put approx. 600 projectiles down range. So this is what I have learned so far:

1) CCI mini mags RULE!

2) name brand bricks=FTF at least once in every magazine

The gun has a great feel in my hand. Fun to shoot at the range!

  1. Agreed on the CCI mini-mags.
  2. 2.CCI's "Blazer" bricks have been by far the most consistent of the bricks we use.  There are a few others in which on FTF per magazine would be a good run.

Congrats on the SR22:  it sounds very nice.

I'm glad you mentioned "Blazer". what's their relationship with CCI?

I find that usually the Winchester Super Speed in the red 100 count box work as well as the CCI and cost about the same too.

Seems like my wife recycles the Bi-Mart adds before I get to see them.  They do have good sales quite often.

CCI is nice stuff, I remember when I used to be able to afford it.  Now even the cheap ammo is more expensive.

if you can, watch the bi-mart ads here, they sometimes get ammo pretty cheap.

If you can put the round back in and strike it in a different spot on the rim and it goes off it's from priming material not equally distributed around the rim or so I've found and been told. It's probably the ammo not the gun.

When I was a boy, I had a single shot .22 and have had that happen many times. Sometimes I would have to turn the cartridge several times before it would fire.

I wonder why that is, you would think ruger would have made the gun to fire on the cheap ammo.

I quess you can engineer so far and if you use sub quality rimfire ammo probably it would have the same results with all quality handguns. You get what you pay for. My experiment has me sold on CCI.

I agree, I have had failure to feed/fire in my .22lr rifle.  I don't blame the rifle, only the ammo.  I clean it enough to know that it's not my negligence that is causing the problems, so my blame is the lack in quality of the ammo.  But I live with it, I don't use it for personal protection, only fun plinking!

With rimfire I would assume that it would probably be the ammo over the gun.  I have come across plenty of dud economy .22 ammo.
