I like it when people agree with me, and I am able to positively influence them. It is one of the reasons I enjoy teaching at the community college.Smile

I appreciate the heavy trigger pull of my CC weapon.  It adds extra
piece of mind for me when I am carrying concealed.  It is not hard to
master it just took me some practice rounds and dry firring to get the
group size down.

You must have taken the words right out of his mouth…!

When I first read the review about this handgun and saw the 9+ pound trigger pull, I was like, "WHAT!"

Now reading your impressions I can see why they did this.  All that would be needed is extra practice to understand the gun.

Yep – I seemed to have just repeated your post, Scarlino.  My apologies, sir.  My laptop did an auto-uodate on the software and is apparently not able to post my notes below the quotes.  Won't take any of my posts, in fact. (Missed me?)  I'm using my desktop until I figure out how to fix it.

Anyway, what I meant to add was the I think a light trigger pull on a SD gun is actually dangerous.  I like a light trigger on my target guns – for obvious reasons – but for my hunting and carry guns, I want a little more pull.

Good review. It's a Smith & Wesson so I would expect that it's a quality gun, the only complaint I would have is the heavy trigger though I understand your reasoning.

I can understand the reasoning and like you, Idon't like a heavy trigger pull. When I buy a pistol , I buy it to shoot, either targets or hunting.I prefer a trigger pull of about two pounds.

I don't like a trigger pole that too light either.  But I guess, if we all were the same there would only be one type of gun out there.  That would suck

Thanks Dan, sounds like a great pistol.  Good luck to all and looking forward to the end of the month to see who the lucky one is.

For a low cost yet reliable self defense gun, look no further than the Smith & Wesson Sigma SW40VE. Featuring an ergonomic 18-degree grip angle, a 14+1 capacity, stainless steel slide with two-tone coloration, and some of the most innovative internal safety mechanisms on the market, the Sigma brings reliability and performance into range of most budgets.

The Sigma offers the ruggedness and durability of stainless steel, a feature usually reserved for higher end guns. Coupled with a polymer frame, the stainless slide offers a stunning contrast that makes the Sigma stand out. This gun is ideal for those who may need a gun that can take the abuse of improper storage, inclement weather, or not being cleaned on a regular basis.

A fixed three dot sighting system offers a no nonsense easy to use aiming interface that is instinctive to both beginning shooters as well as seasoned pros.

A slim profile and a 14+1 round capacity of .40 S&W rounds means you don’t have to sacrifice capacity for comfort. The Sigma comes with two 14 round magazines right out of the box.

As a striker fired pistol, the Sigma offers the simplicity provided by eliminating external safeties coupled with the security of internal safety mechanisms that prevent the gun from firing unless the trigger is pulled.
While the Sigma has a fairly stiff 9.1 lb trigger weight, this is desired in a gun carried for self defense as it reduces the likelihood of an accidental discharge during a stressful dynamic incident.

A forward accessory rail accepts most lights and external lasers, and easy takedown controls make stripping and cleaning the pistol an easy task.

An oversized external extractor provides smooth running of the gun. A loaded chamber indicator lets the shooter easily verify the loaded status of the gun.

The Sigma is a good choice for home protection, learning shooting, personal carry, or just for someone who likes to shoot targets for sport.

It is built on a highly reliable framework that has been proven in the stress of real gunfights. It is simple to use yet has all of the features you would expect from a name like Smith & Wesson.

While the longer trigger pull will take some getting used to, the gun has fantastic accuracy once you master the trigger. A full sized 4-inch barrel and longer sight alignment ensure tight groups even at longer distances.

Sportsman’s News will be giving away the Smith & Wesson Sigma we tested in our January Great Gun Giveaway. To enter to win this gun, logon to our forums. For each 25 forum posts you make, you will receive an additional entry to win this gun and all of our great Gun of the Month Giveaway guns. Good luck.
