I have never shot a gun with laser grips, but it seams like the way to go.

This article is too old to be on the current site, but I have it on my On Target site still. There is a very real tactical advantage to laser sights.

Those would be great for that gun, I think you would really like them.

Carrying all the time all day long is no problem at all.  Even while ice skating still remains comfortable, secure, and concealed.  I love this little gun.

Does anyone know of a good load for this gun?  I am looking to do some reloading, just standard pressure 38 spl is there an optimal load for the 1 7/8" barrel?  I have a Lymans reloading manual, but I havn't read too much on the 38 spl yet.  Can you use once fired +P brass for standard pressure reloads?

I may have answered this somewhere else but in case I didn't . . .

3.5 grains of Bullseye behind a 158 grain SWC or LRN bullet is a comfortable to shoot and accurate load.  It's what I use for targets and general plinking in all my .38s – 2", 4" and 6" barrels.  That includes my J-frame.  I've even used it in a 18" carbine barrel and it works well for that, too.

Like all load recipes, you will want to work up your own and 3.5 grains is toward the low end of the scale.  As for +P brass, as long as it doesn't show any signs of case strain or deformation and the primer pocket is okay, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use one for standard power reloads.

Be very careful with Bullseye powder, BTW.  It has a fast burn rate and 3.5 grains is a small amount.  It would be easily possible to double-charge a case, which could cause a disastrous ka-boom.  My habit is to visually check every load I build without exception.

If you will check the post on hand loaders, you will see that colorado hunter has answered your question on that post.SurprisedLaugh

Shot my 642 today!  It was totally awesome groups were pretty tight and I wasn't even used to the trigger yet.  The .38 SPL+P has some punch to it but it was still enjoyable to shoot.  I love this gun and now I have the confidence knowing it will hit where I aim, it is really all about trigger control with this little masterpiece.

Nice.  It looks like a good weapon to own:  very practical.  I know that revolvers are passe right now — and I usually care a semi-automatic when I do — but there is an inherent simplicity and (for lack of a better word right now) elegance to the revolver which is hard to beat.  Actually, my primary HD weapon remains a revolver.

Plus, really, revolvers are just plain funner to shoot!   (Most of the time.  :-)   )

I wear either Hawaiian shirts or 5.11 Covert Casual shirts all summer long. I get wild Hawaiian shirts at the thrift stores or have my mom pick them up in Honolulu when she goes to visit my sister. The uglier they are, the more I like them.

The Hawaiian shirts remind me of Magnum P.I. Laugh

I'm supprised someone hasn't tried recreating that movie yet, they have most of the others.

For now I just carry them in a lightweight fleece jacket pocket.  I will need to get a holder for them for summer time, and some hawaiian shirts.
